KOLA 99FM Radio personality Brian Casey broadcast live from Kersting Court from 11am to 1pm during the festival, and invited KOLA listeners to stop by and visit him at the KOLA booth. The KOLA 99.9 Prize Caravan brought lots of great prizes to help entice listeners to stop by, as well. Prizes included: KOLA T-Shirts, Ontario Reign hockey tickets, and DVD movies. KOLA also gave out free “Sobe Life Waters” to all who stopped by. Throughout the week leading up to the event Brian and fellow KOLA personality Patti Banner did lots of on-air live reads and shout outs to Sierra Madre, including some on Friday morning where they discussed a progressive lunch arranged by the Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce and its members to show the KOLA on-air personalities a preview of Sierra Madre prior to the festival. The KOLA presence during the festival was prompted by the Sierra Madre Chamber Board of Directors electing to purchase an advertising package from the radio station to tap into the previously untapped Inland Empire market of potential festival goers. KOLA, which broadcasts from Redlands, is heard throughout the Inland Empire and the San Gabriel Valley. Included in the advertising package was a remote broadcast booth with one on-air personality, which in Sierra Madre's case turned out to be morning drive-time's Brian Casey. Advertising spots produced by the station from scripts provided by the Chamber, one eighteen seconds long, and two thirty-three second long spots (here and here), were put into rotation on Feb. 23rd, nearly three weeks before the festival. Additionally, the thirty seconds spots were used as streaming commercials in rotation on KOLA's internet broadcast, and the Wistaria Festival logo with a link to the Chamber's website was placed prominently on the KOLA website. On Monday March 9th, KOLA began broadcasting, free of charge to the Chamber, on-air promos by Brian Casey that were put into the rotation to supplement the advertising the Chamber had paid for. Here is one of the "live reads" aired on Friday morning before the Festival. During the Festival itself, the KOLA Radio broadcast was transferred out to Sierra Madre four times for Brian to invite the station's listeners to join him in Sierra Madre. Listen here, here, here, and here. You can listen to the post-Festival Monday morning chat by clicking here (2.4mb file, give it a minute to download). And here are some pictures taken of KOLA's visit to the Wistaria Festival, courtesy of KOLA 99FM radio.
