Sierra Madre's Rose Float is
one of six remaining self-built floats in the Tournament of Roses Parade |
Last Wednesday, Bob Young, Greg Murphy, Charles Meier and Dick Sappington represented the Association at the Tournament’s 2009 Theme Draft. Dick drew #3 from the fish bowl and we were in excellent position to have our #1 design recommendation approved. Based on the General Membership and Board votes, “Bollywood Dreams” was presented and accepted by the Tournament. The Tournament’s final written approval will be made in April, we will proceed immediately with float plan development. We have commenced engine and drive train maintenance already. “Bollywood Dreams” will be one of the tallest and longest floats we have under taken. A special thank you to everyone who submitted designs.

The Sierra Madre Rose Float Association Appreciates Your Donations The Sierra Madre Rose Float Assn. is grateful for your donations each year, donations that help to make the float a success. Donations of your time are always welcome, at fund raisers and activities throughout the year and particularly in December during the making of the float, but also critical to the success of the annual entry is funding for it, and that's a donation you can make year round. SMRFA receives no money from the City, and made the beautiful float above on a budget of $32,000. The next lowest cost for a self-built float was twice that much, so SMRFA is more dependent upon donations from its supporters than most. If you or your business can make a funding donation, send it to:
