Kellie Strubinski -- Plenty of Sparkle Kellie Strubinski (click photo to enlarge) has a sparkle that is infectious and contagious. And she brings that positive energy to several nonprofit groups in Sierra Madre. THE SIERRA MADRE LIBRARY: Kellie has just become the vice president of Friends of the Sierra Madre Library. Prior to this role, she was chairman of the Library's Annual Wine and Cuisine Tasting event for 2008 and 2009. "I'm excited and honored to be a part of the wonderful library community." SIERRA MADRE SCHOOL: Kellie is part of the Annual Fund Committee that leads the general fundraising for the public school, expanding the financial base with private funds. What is their general thrust? Maintenance and enrichment programs, she answered. "You wouldn't believe the ideas that come from parents. We all work together in creative ways to procure funds for the school." Kellie started the Grant Writing Committee for the school and is having great success in getting extra funds for learning materials for the school. Kellie lauded Gayle Bluemel, principal of Sierra Madre School, for her "many amazing talents and inspirational spirit." Kellie came to California on her college break before her senior year at Indiana University and decided to move here. "I came to see the hoopla about the West," she said. She loved the freedom, and originally settled in Santa Monica. Several years later, after marriage and children, Kellie joined the Sierra Madre Mom's Club and found them especially warm-hearted and generous. She knew she wanted to live in Sierra Madre because it was safe and friendly. "It became my dream to live here." She bought a house across from the park for herself and her two children, Nicole, 8, and Conrad, 6, both now attending Sierra Madre School. "I thank my lucky stars that I'm here. I look forward to supporting this town in any way that I can," Kellie concluded. |
