2009 Friends of the Library Wine and Cuisine Tasting Friday, Feb. 20th, 2009 Back to Wine Tasting main page The 39th Annual Friends of the Sierra Madre Public Library Wine and Cuisine Tasting took place Friday at Alverno High School's Villa del Sol dOro. Approximately two dozen wineries were represented, as well as two dozen local eateries, from Sierra Madre and the surrounding area. Magicians Will Chandler and Steve Silverman, both from the Magic Castle, and jazz musician Eric Byak entertained the throngs of people who paid $60 apiece to attend. More than 100 items were auctioned off at a silent auction. Proceeds from the evening will be used by the Friends to continue the Pre-School Story hour, the Teen Book Club and Summer Reading Club, Adult computer classes as well as purchase and maintenance of computer equipment and software for public use, the purchase of Videos, CD and books on tape, the Travelers and Collectors series, and the purchase of large print books for the vision impaired.
