Sierra Madre Fire Safe Council Post-Santa Anita Fire Meeting Monday, May 5, 2008 Back to Fire Safe Council Main Page Video Page 1 There was a packed house at the first Fire Safe Council meeting after the Santa Anita Fire. The meeting opened with a gift to the City from some residents in the Oak Canyon area, a framed montage of photos from the fire. Mike Kinney opened the meeting with some discussion of a grant the Council has applied for which may result in free chipping and hauling of brush for residents. Fire Marshal Rich Snyder gave a report on the fire, accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation of photos from the fire. Bruce Inman, Director of Public Works gave a report on status of his department's efforts regarding future mud slide prevention, and Chris Stone of LA County Dept. of Public Works also discussed the County's efforts in that area. Police Chief Diaz gave a short report on the SMPD's role during the fire, then there was a Q. and A. session. Fire Chief Steve Heydorff spoke briefly, followed by Kurt Zimmerman. There are a couple pictures below from that evening, and below the pictures, you'll find links to videos. I got most, but not all of the evening on video. The lighting in the Council Chambers wasn't the best, so most of this is dark, which is good during the PowerPoint. But really it's the audio that is more important, and the lighting didn't effect that. Pictures
