Sierra Madre Volunteer Firefighters Easter Egg Hunt
Saturday, April 7, 2007 Back to Easter Egg Hunt Main Page By Bill Coburn The Sierra Madre Volunteer Firefighter’s Association, which sponsors the Easter Egg Hunt, “hid” seventy-five thousand pieces of candy on the lawn at Memorial Park, (corner of Hermosa and Sierra Madre Blvd.) as well as many special "Golden Eggs," which kids were able to redeem for big Easter Baskets filled with all kinds of special goodies. The park was divided into sections by age groups, to prevent toddlers from being trampled by the bigger kids. The hunt is open to all kids under 10 years of age. As always, thanks to connections at the Fire Dept., the Easter Bunny himself (herself?) made a special appearance. The egg hunt, which was begun in 1931 and has been held annually ever since, is always one of the highlights on the Sierra Madre calendar. Click on a photo to see it full size.
