Saturday, Nov. 29th, 2008 The Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce held its annual Dickens Village holiday celebration, and seemed to have had a very successful evening. There was a good crowd, up quite a bit from last year, merchants I spoke with were pleased and had good nights, and the vendors I spoke with were also pleased. Santa arrived and visited with kids (photos were available), the tree was lit, and there was a horse and carriage ride through the downtown. But the big hit of the night was the "sled" ride down the "snow" at the drive-through at Bank of the West, where there was a line the length of the driveway all night long. Thanks to the Dickens Village Committee that organized the event, all the volunteers that worked the event, especially Santa, and thanks also to the Rotary Club, which did the bulk of the decorating of the downtown district for the event...
