The KING and Buddy Make a Triumphant Return to Sierra Madre Elvis (Harry Shahoian) and Buddy Holly (GeorgeTrullinger) performed at the Concert in the Park sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sierra Madre on Sunday.  Harry and George have just completed an engagement at the Orleans in Las Vegas, and are currently "free-lancing," in Harry's words.  A crowd estimated at about 600 people enthusiastically greeted the duo and their band. Lawn chairs and blankets were set up to save locations as early as 7:30 am by Sierra Madreans who anticipated a large crowd for the show. Favorites from the fifties and sixties were the order of the night, as George "Buddy" opened the show with a set of Buddy Holly tunes after which "Elvis" was "released" to do the concert by the SMPD after "being arrested" for allegedly making an illegal U-turn. SMPD gave Elvis an escort into the park, (click here for video) and the crowd cheered as he reenacted many of the hits made famous by the King, who passed away 26 years ago this coming Saturday, of heart failure.   Click on a picture below to see it larger, click on a link to view videos.
