“Bollywood Dreams” was presented and accepted by the Tournament of Roses as the Sierra Madre Rose Float Association 2009 float entry saluting the Tournament’s Theme, “Hat’s Off to Entertainment.” Though the Tournament’s final written approval will not arrive until April, we are proceeding with plan development, engine/system maintenance and major structural production to make “Bollywood Dreams” a reality.
“Bollywood Dreams” was conceived and designed by Mr. Charles Meier, an Association member. Mr. Meier’s previous designs have included three award-wining floats for Sierra Madre, including last year’s Princess Award winner, “Valentine’s Day.”
“Bollywood Dreams” salutes the the film industry in India which produces more than 1,000 films a year, with ticket sales of 3.6 billion. Bollywood is one of the largest film producers in the world. Many of the ”Bollwyood” productions are described as very theatrical, characterized by Indian romance and dancing. “Bollywood Dreams” will be one of the tallest and longest floats the Association has ever undertaken.
