“Abstract artwork by Sierra Madre Art Fair featured artist David Roberts” (5/18/07) Art in the Park a Sierra Madre Treasure
The 45th annual Sierra Madre Art Fair is scheduled for Memorial Park , 222 West Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, Saturday, May 19, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday May 20, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This highly regarded art fair was a successful event before art and craft fairs dotted street corners throughout southern California. Sponsored by the Friends of the Sierra Madre Library, the juried show draws talented quality artists each year.
In the tree-filled park setting, artists will display their work and visit with patrons. About 100 artists will be featured this year, 80% of which are recognized artists from previous years. Artists appearing for the first time will introduce some very exciting new work to sell. Artist recruitment began last fall and the jury has carefully examined each entry to ensure that fine quality work consistent with Sierra Madre Art Fair standards is available to intrigue and entice fair patrons.
The jury also looks at mediums represented, to ensure variety to appeal to all tastes. This year will be no exception. A wide choice will be featured including ceramics, water color, oils, photography, glass, wood working, metal art, sculpture, jewelry, wearable silk. A stroll through Memorial Park on Saturday and Sunday is a delightful way to spend several hours enjoying the park setting, feasting your eyes on some superlative art and making purchases to enhance your private collection.
Other features have been designed to add ambiance to your Art Fair visit. These include entertainment for children and adults, music, and a food court offering a wide assortment of Ethnic and fair-style cuisine. Parking in surrounding areas is free.
All profits from the fair support Sierra Madre Public Library programs, services and acquisitions. To learn more about the Art Fair, visit the web site at www.sierramadreartfair.com or call 626.355.3977. |
