Chamber Mixer at Pinney House Draws a Crowd Thursday, May 20, 2010 Last Thursday, the Chamber of Commerce held its May Mixer at the Pinney House on Lima. This building was originally built in 1887, and was known as the Sierra Madre Hotel. The historic structure is currently undergoing a renovation by owners Judy and Greg Asbury. The Asburys used the mixer as an opportunity to conducts some preliminary market research to gauge the mood of the community for their idea of returning the home to its original use as lodging, after many years as apartments. They discussed making the building into a Bed and Breakfast, with six bedrooms suites. The crowd of about 70 people in attendance at the Mixer appeared unanimous in their support for the idea. Greg Asbury gave a brief presentation on some of the history of the house. Plans to lead a tour of the house were scrapped when the crowd was so large it wasn't logistically feasible. Guests were allowed to wander unguided through the first and second floors. The third floor, currently being used as living quarters for family members, was closed to the public.
