September Chamber Mixer at Rose Float Barn

The September Chamber of Commerce Mixer was held at the Sierra Madre Rose Float Barn.  It was a relatively small turnout for a joint function of two Sierra Madre institutions.  Those who showed up were able to view the 2005 Rose Float as it currently exists.  According to SMRFA president Robert Young, the SMRFA has entered 2005 with a renewed commitment to bring the town a "prize-winning" float.  To that end, the chassis has been modified, ensuring that it stays in a class for smaller floats, and additional fundraising efforts are taking place, to ensure sufficient finances to create a gorgeous float.  This year's float, seen in a rendering in the first photo below, is titled Monkey Mischief, and was designed by Susan Nunnery.  The float is well under way, with much of the welding of framework already in place.  Click on a photo below to enlarge it.
