SM Halloween Costume Contest Winners Announced! Nearly 150 kids ranging in age from “have to be carried” to 14 years turned out for the Sierra Madre Halloween Costume Contest on Tuesday. The contest followed the annual Downtown Trick or Treating and the Community Costume Parade. Thanks to Village Pizza for providing bags for the trick or treaters, and to all the participating merchants who doled out the candy!
The costume contest, sponsored by Sierra Madre Kiwanis, the Community and Personnel Dept., and with assistance from Sierra Madre Fire Dept. and the Sierra Madre Police Dept., featured three winners in 6 age groups, each of whom received a gift card to Vroman’s. Lisa Spigai-Perez was emcee, and Harriett Lyle, Sue Levoe, Pat Birdsall and Michael Minehart, all of the Kiwanis Club, were joined by Mayor Pro Tem Enid Joffe as judges. In the accompanying picture, Joffe is with the winners of the 5-6 year old age group.
There was no breakdown of the winners in each category, i.e., 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, all 3 were named as co-winners. The winners of the contest were:
