We Support Business:
We monitor the legislative activity of the federal and state representatives who serve the San Gabriel Valley. We inform these representatives of the San Gabriel Valley Legislative Coalition of Chambers' positions and track their voting records on business related issues.

The Legislative Platform of the SGV Legislative Coalition of Chambers is as follows:
1. Government
Support the functions of government to enhance the economic base of private enterprise and businesses in the San Gabriel Valley.
A. Oppose unfunded government and safety mandates.
B. Encourage compact redistricting; two Assembly Districts to each Senate District using city boundaries and natural topography as guidelines.
C. Support land use authority at the closest possible level or government.
D. Support policies that promote efficiency in government and consolidation of services.
E. Support permit streamlining and other methods of cutting business red tape.
F. Support government entrepreneurial efforts.
G. Support efforts to control business taxes.
H. Oppose California business legislation that provides for more stringent standards or regulations than those of the federal government.
2. Energy
Support efforts to develop and sustain safe, reliable and efficient cost effective sources of energy in order to maintain a viable business environment and robust economy in the San Gabriel Valley.
A. Encourage business education programs to promote energy conservation and energy efficient based programs that will benefit local businesses.
3. Health Care
Preserve human dignity and access to basic services.
A. Support voluntary and equitable employer funded health coverage.
4. Infrastructure and Environment
Support the maintenance and required improvement of the infrastructure to support the needs of the existing population and growth, which stimulates the economy.
A. Encourage market-based incentive for recycling, which in turn preserves our natural resources.
B. Encourage South Coast Air Quality Management District and other similar regulatory agencies to streamline permitting that will aid in the conservation of essential resources.
5. Labor
Foster legislation that will allow business and industry flexibility to safely and efficiently manage its employees and develop programs that enhance productivity.
A. Support continued reform of workers' compensation laws to reduce the cost of the system and to increase benefits to legitimate employee claims.
B. Support flexible 40-hour week.
C. Support the educational process that will provide a qualified and able workforce.
6. Regulations
Support efforts to encourage new businesses and retain existing businesses by reforming the burdensome regulatory process.
A. Oppose mandates to further regulate, tax, or impose undue burdens of reporting and complying on small businesses.
B. Oppose legislation to impose standards upon businesses based on untried and experimental solutions.
C. Assist development of market-based incentives in lieu of government-mandated policies.
7. Transportation
Support development and expansion of the transportation network.
A. Support transit projects connecting Los Angeles with the San Gabriel Valley, advocating that construction commence in the Valley first.
B. Support expansion of high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes where appropriate, but assuring minimal impact on existing businesses with regard to parking, signage, access, etc.
C. Advocate for grade level separation for all fixed rail crossings in metropolitan areas.
D. Encourage ways to reduce single occupant vehicle use during peak traffic hours.
E. Encourage and support policies to promote alternate methods of travel.
8. Education
Support a robust educational program as a business and community asset in order to provide a qualified workforce, stimulate thoughtful consumerism, and inventive entrepreneurship to prepare responsible business leaders.
