Sindee Riboli, on behalf of the 2007 Sierra Madre Wine and Jazz Walk Committee, presented a check for $40,000 to Steve Somers of City of Hope at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.  The funds from this year's event doubled last year's donation of $20,000. More than 1,000 participants strolled the streets of Sierra Madre during the walk on October 27, enjoying food from Sierra Madre restaurants and sampling wine, while listening to live performances from the best of California's jazz artists.

The San Antonio Winery/Riboli Family Estates donated the wines that the event-goers sampled. The walk showcased the best of Sierra Madre, with jazz artists hand-picked by Café 322 proprietor and musician Mario Lalli.

Much of the donation to City of Hope has been allocated to help fund work by researchers who live in Sierra Madre, with $15,000 allocated to the Clinical Cancer Genetics Program under the direction of Dr. Jeff Weitzel ( resident of Sierra Madre), $10,000 to the CITI (cancer immunotherapeutics) program under the direction of Dr. Michael Jensen (resident of Sierra Madre), and $15,000 allocated to the DCT (developmental cancer therapeutics) program under the direction of Dr. Richard Jove and Dr. Yun Yen.
