2009 SMRFA ROSE FLOAT - "CALL FOR DESIGNS"

Yes, that’s right, we are looking for concepts/designs submissions for the 2009 Tournament of Roses Parade.

 

Call us crazy but. . .  we realize that the short concept design time we have provided in past years has limited designer participation and consequently, the number of designs submitted. It has also prevented us on getting a jump on the 1st Quarter float planning process.

 

So, here are the details:

 

Now’s your chance to design a Pasadena Tournament of Roses rose float! Between October 1st, 2007, and January 11th, 2008, the Sierra Madre Rose Float Association is accepting designs for our entry in the January 1, 2009 parade.

 

The official announcement of the Tournament of Roses Parade theme will occur after our call for designs closing date, but this year’s pre-announcement hints are “entertainment” and “excitement” (such as Salute to Entertainment or Hat’s Off to Entertainment). We very confident the 2009 Parade will feature floats with “entertainment” themes.

 

Entry is open to all ages and you do not need to be an Association member nor a Sierra Madre resident. Designs developed by groups, including art classes and organizations, are gladly received. Designers are also encouraged to submit more than one design.

 

We encourage everyone to spread the word to their friends, relatives and co-workers. If possible, consider talking about this contest with local art groups, classes or schools, art class could submit a group design. Remember, designers are encouraged to submit multiple designs.
