Pioneer
Days 1999 Sierra
Madre Treasures (formerly known as the
Oldtimers) Gatherings
The Treasures of Sierra Madre gathered throughout the month, but the weekend of the 15th through the 17th was especially busy. They gathered pictures to be put on display at their events, as well as a mountain trail photos display at Lizzie's. Especially moving was a collection of photos of Sierra Madreans in uniform, honoring our servicemen living and dead. Friday night was the first event of the weekend, a chicken dinner at the VFW. The Treasures then gathered at Peppertree Grill for brunch on Saturday morning, and afterwards you ccould find them outside the Senior Center for chats/photo albums and reminiscing. The VFW sold beverages, so no need to worry about thirst. Everyone then met at the VFW for Sunday breakfast, and then the Treasures went up to Lizzie's Trail Inn. There, those who had purchased tickets enjoyed an old-fashioned chicken dinner sponsored by the Kiwanis. It was a wonderful opportunity to hear the memories and stories of Sierra Madre's Treasures.
