If you are an aspiring poet or lyricist between the ages of 12-17, you are invited to bring your original material to a Lyric Slam for Teens at Sierra Madre Public Library, 440 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, on Friday, April 1, at 7:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to meet other writers, make new friends and share your work with others. Compositions can be in any style—rap, rock, pop, free verse or rhymed—the sky’s the limit, and any and all styles are welcome.
This will also be a unique opportunity to have your material put to music by accomplished musicians. Guest performers Dawn Bishop (keyboards and vocals) and Brian Coe (percussion), will improvise a song on the spot using participants’ lyrics.
Everyone is invited to come as they are, or to mix it up and come dressed as a favorite celebrity or pop star (costuming is strictly optional).
