It was “Hats Off” to Civic Club as it celebrated its 67th birthday at a February meeting. With the club being an important presence in the area for volunteer service and generous philanthropy giving since it began in 1944m Taylor Neslerode, who chaired the birthday meeting, chose the “Hats Off” tribute.
Those attending wore their favorite chapeau, and table centerpieces were a collection of beautiful and unusual hats. Special honor was paid to the 22 past presidents who attended that night, all still very active. Two charter members came, Anne Tyler, also a past president and Marjorie Peterson, fondly known as “Mama Pete” for the nursery shool she has run since World War II. It was also special having 96-year old Arlie Hahn, an Honorary Life Member, present. She conducts a knitting class each Friday morning in her home for members who knit creations for the Civic Club Shoppe, a club fundraiser.
Present Club President Carol Cerrina, conducted the festive evening and gave greetings to all present for this special occasion.
