A reception will be held this afternoon to recognize Chief Marilyn Diaz upon her retirement. Chief Diaz has been with the Sierra Madre PD for just over five years, after serving 32 years with the Pasadena Police Dept. She was the first female police chief in L.A. County when she was named to run our department.
The reception is free and the public is invited. It will be held in the Sierra Madre Room at the Recreation Center, 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., beginning at 5:30. There will be a meet and greet until 6:30, at which time the speeches and proclamations and commendations will begin. The event is scheduled to end at 7pm.
The City Council has already recognized Chief Diaz and her retirement at their Dec. 13, 2011 meeting. You can view video of Mayor Buchanan’s speech and Chief Diaz’ response by clicking here.
