The LA Superior Court website has a new entry on case no. BS131950, John Crawford’s lawsuit against the City of Sierra Madre, filed on May 6, 2011. Crawford had filed suit alleging that the actions taken by the City to increase the water rates were contrary to law because they violated the California constitution as amended by Prop. 218. The City filed a Notice of Demurrer and Demurrer to the Verified Petition and Complaint on June 20th, 2011.
According to the Superior Court website, the latest action in case BS131950, is that a Request and Entry of Dismissal (WITH PREJUDICE ENTIRE ACTION OF ALL PARTIES AND ALL CAUSES OF ACTION ) was filed by the Attorney for plaintiff/petititoner on July 29, 2011.
Mr. Crawford has not mentioned any change in status in the case on his blog, and City Hall is closed until Monday. I will update with more information as it becomes available. UPDATE: Asked for comment, John Crawford responded: “Tune in Monday.”
