There were some new components to the 2011 4th of July festivities, including a Community Picnic in the Park at Sierra Vista Park on Saturday, July 2nd. There was live entertainment by the Gem City Jazz Cats, a beer garden, a dunk tank, a water play zone, a home run derby, open swimming in the pool and a brief time when the fire department was hosing the kids down from the parking lot over by the cemetery. Unfortunately, since I was working the dunk tank, I didn’t make it up for the Home Run Derby, so there’s no coverage of that…
