He was ninety-three years old.
Gordon embodied the true definition of the term town icon. For decades he volunteered his time with numerous organizations around town, including as a Sierra Madre firefighter, a member of the Sierra Madre Volunteer Firefighters’ Association, Kiwanis, VFW Post 3208. He also organized blood drives for the Red Cross for many years.
He was a great guy, who always had a smile on his face and an upbeat attitude. Mix in a little mischief, and you’ve got Gordon. He will be sorely missed. Sympathies to Mary Lou and the family.
A look back at Gordon…
Gordon was also a WW II veteran, who served on the USS Saratoga when it was attacked. This link will bring you to an article which includes video of Gordon telling his story to Kiwanians at their Veterans’ Day meeting in 2010.
