Posted 10/23/15 – Dozens of kids turned out downtown today to paint the storefront windows on local businesses, all sponsored and underwritten by the Sierra Madre Civic Club. EIGHTY-EIGHT windows were scheduled to be painted, so many that SMCC felt it necessary to set up a second paint distribution station at Memorial Park. Students aged 9 -17 can work in teams of up to four students of the same age group on a window design. At least one participant must be a Sierra Madre resident. Painting continues tomorrow from 7:30 to 10am. Judging will follow and awards will be given by age groups at 12:15.
I’ll try to make it downtown tomorrow to get the completed windows, in the meantime, enjoy these photos taken in progress. The first pictures are at the west end of the north side of Sierra Madre Blvd., then I go up the west side of Baldwin and down the east, then along the south side of SM Blvd., with the final ones at the west end of the south side (in case that helps you find the window you are looking for.
