Press Release posted 5/21/14 – Come join in the excitement of the 2014 Mount Wilson Trail Race! The sold-out race will take off Saturday, May 24 at 7:30 a.m. If you are not running the race, there is still plenty to enjoy in Kersting Court including vendor booths, the Beer Garden, MWTR souvenirs and the Kids’ Fun Run.
MWTR Pasta Dinner – May 23, 2014
All are welcome to enjoy the Pre-Race pasta dinner provided by StoneFire Grill on Friday, May 23 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Kersting Court at the corner of Sierra Madre Blvd. and Baldwin Ave. The dinner costs $7.50 with partial proceeds benefiting the Sierra Madre Search and Rescue team. Attendees can also learn about trail history through a docent led slide show, take part in a raffle, and purchase Mount Wilson Trail Race souvenirs. Souvenirs available for purchase include T-Shirts from previous years, visors, beanies, mugs (diner-style), socks, hooded sweatshirts, car stickers, bottle openers, and high quality T-Shirts different from the race shirts (NEW this year!). This is also an opportunity for racers to pick up their race bibs and T-shirts, and youth to sign up for the Kids’ Fun Run.
MWTR Kids’ Fun Run – May 24, 2014
Don’t miss the 9th annual Kids’ Fun Run sponsored by the Sierra Madre Community Foundation and CATZ. The Kids’ Fun Run is an absolutely free event for youth 3-12 years of age. The Kid’s Fun Run will begin at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 24. Youth will have the opportunity to run up and down Baldwin Avenue and finish under the same banner as MWTR runners! Youth 3-6 years of age will turnaround at Highland Avenue, while youth 7-12 will turnaround at Mira Monte. All participants must sign up with a parent or guardian on Friday evening during the Pasta Dinner or beginning at 7:00 a.m. race day morning. The first 250 youth to sign up will receive a free T-shirt and participation ribbon compliments of the Sierra Madre Community Foundation.
MWTR Beer Garden – May 24, 2014
Following the race, runners and non-runners can enjoy a brew or two while sharing their race stories at the Beer Garden. The Beer Garden is sponsored by the Spero Foundation and will be held from 9:00 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. in Kersting Court. Beers on tap include Mission Blonde from San Diego and Humboldt Nectar IPA from Paso Robles. Proceeds are donated to Sierra Madre Search and Rescue.
