Posted 5/18/14 – The Sierra Madre Kiwanis Club held its 4th annual Boot Skootin’ Dance and Chili Cook-off in the Sierra Madre Room at the Rec Center on Saturday, with celebrity food critic Peter Dills acting as judge and picking a winner from the five entries in the Chili Cook-off. Dills selected Chili #5, submitted by Brian and Maria Decker. The Deckers also were selected as the winners of the People’s Choice judging. Peter selected Chili #3 submitted by Glenn and Amy Putnam as the runner up, but the People’s Choice second place vote getter was Chili #2, submitted by Fred Thomas.
Following the Cook-off came Country Western line dancing, complete with lessons, and a silent auction. Money raised from the event will be used to help fund the Creative Arts Group’s “Imagine Art” program, benefiting the children of Sierra Madre School.
