Press Release posted 12/12/13 – UPDATE: The deadline for submissions for the 2013 Halloween Window Painting Contest has been extended to Tuesday, October 15 at 5:00pm. The City of Sierra Madre is closed on Monday, October 14 in observance of Columbus Day. Please be sure to turn in your applications no later than Tuesday, October 15. Drop off locations include City Hall located at 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. and the Community Services Office located at 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. If you have questions regarding the window painting, please contact Event Chair Marcia Bent at 626-355-5372.
The time is drawing near for students between the ages of 9-17 to turn in their Halloween Window Painting applications. Applications have been distributed to all local schools and are also available at the Front Desk at City Hall and from the Community Services office at the Rec Center. Completed applications are due back to these City locations by 5pm on Monday, October 14th Extended through Tuesday, October 15th.
Each application requires 2 to 4 participants of the same age group to be assigned to a window. At least one team member must be a Sierra Madre resident. Groups will be divided by age: 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-17 years old. Painting of local merchants’ windows will occur in Sierra Madre’s downtown on Friday, October 25th from 2:30pm to 6pm and on Saturday, October 26th from 8am to 11am. Judging will follow and prizes awarded by age groups at 12:15pm that day. Additional information and guidelines are available with the applications.
This year’s contest is sponsored and underwritten by the Sierra Madre Civic Club and is free to participants.
