“Since very young, I have inclined toward the creative both dance and art. My grandmother painted and I spent long summers at her country home in Connecticut. I watched her sketch in nature or paint in her studio. This childhood exposure strongly influenced me. I took up ceramics while living in Chicago. I worked at Lill Street Studios, where I did wheel work and hand-building. More recently, I have focused on cutouts. Dance has infiltrated my art. As a young girl I danced, and have continued to social dance in more recent years. A common theme in my artwork is a female figure depicted metaphorically within a simplified landscape.” – Christine Prentice
