Editor:
May 15-21 is National Emergency Medical Services Week. I encourage everyone to do two things. First, familiarize yourself with local emergency resources and how to access them. Make certain that everyone in your household knows how to call for help, whether it’s 911 for paramedics and fire, or the nearest Poison Control Center.
Second, I hope everyone will take a moment to think about, and thank, the many emergency medical responders—paramedics, physicians and nurses—who stand ready 24 hours a day to protect and help you. They are a lifesaving team, working in unison when every second counts. They work long hours, often in difficult and even dangerous circumstances, to save lives.
They deserve our gratitude and respect every day.
Sincerely,
Tom Beck, Chair
Methodist Hospital Emergency Department Council
