It is our sad duty to report that Glidden “Bud” Switzer peacefully passed away on September 23rd, shortly after his 92nd birthday. The 2006 Citizen of the Year and a former 4th of July Grand Marshal, Bud was best known for his pumpkin carving, which led to an annual Halloween event on Alegria that brings visitors to the City from miles around. Active in the VFW, Bud was an avid runner for many years, an active supporter of the Mt. Wilson Trail Race, and also worked with John Grijalva on the establishment of the Memorial Park Veteran’s Wall. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Donna Mae, and his son Kevin. He is survived by a son Cam, and 2 daughters, Debbie and Lisa. Bud was a beloved member of the Sierra Madre community for decades, and we will have much more to say in a future article on Bud. He will truly be missed.
In addition to the comments section below and on our FB page, the family has established a Remembrance Page for anyone who would like to share a “Bud story.”
