Press Release from California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection at 9:47am, posted 8/15/22 – Nearly a dozen wildfires continue to burn across California and more than 8,000 firefighters are on the frontlines battling these fires. Above average temperatures coupled with extremely dry conditions are causing fires to burn very actively.
Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected over many of the mountains and higher elevations in northernCaliforniawith dry lightning likely. The potential for lightning-sparked fires will be high.
